[texts]Mineral Composition and Abundance of the Rocks and Soils at Gusev and Meridiani from the Mars Exploration Rover Mini-TES Instruments - Christensen, P. R.
The Miniature Thermal Emission Spectrometer (Mini-TES) has provided remote measurements of mineralogy, thermophysical properties, and atmospheric temperature profile and composition of the outcrops, rocks, spherules, and soils surrounding the Spirit and Opportunity Rovers. The mineralogy of volcanic rocks provides insights into the composition of the source regions and the nature of martian igneous processes...

[texts]On the structure of gaseous confined laminar diffusion flames: Numerical investigation - Mawid, M. A.
The structure and characteristics of gaseous confined laminar diffusion flames are investigated by numerically solving the time-dependent two-dimensional axisymmetric conservation equations. The numerical model accounts for the important chemical and physical processes involved, including axial diffusion, viscous effects, radial convection, and finite-rate chemistry. The numerical results clearly show that the flame has a finite thickness and leakage of fuel vapor into the flame zone is possible...

[texts]Bronzite Granophyre: New insight on Vredefort - Therriault, A. M.
The Vredefort Dome is located near the center of the Witwatersrand Basin, about 120 km southeast of Johannesburg, South Africa. Its origin is enigmatic, ranging from a major impact event to endogenous processes, either igneous or tectonic. A unique melt rock, the 'Bronzite' Granophyr, occurs in the Vredefort structure as vertical ring dikes along the contact between sedimentary collar and core of Archaean granites, and as vertical dikes extending northwest-southeast and northeast-southwest in th...

[texts]The use of holographic interferometry for measurements of temperature in a rectangular heat pipe - Marn, Jur
Holographic interferometry is a nonintrusive method and as such possesses considerable advantages such as not disturbing the velocity and temperature field by creating obstacles which would alter the flow field. These optical methods have disadvantages as well. Holography, as one of the interferometry methods, retains the accuracy of older methods, and at the same time eliminates the system error of participating components...

[texts]SeaWiFS Postlaunch Technical Report Series - OReilly, John E.
Volume 11 continues the sequential presentation of postlaunch data analysis and algorithm descriptions begun in Volume 9. Chapters 1 and 2 present the OC2 (version 2) and OC4 (version 4) chlorophyll a algorithms used in the SeaWiFS data second and third reprocessings, August 1998 and May 2000, respectively. Chapter 3 describes a revision of the K(490) algorithm designed to use water-leaving radiances at 490 nm which was implemented for the third reprocessing...

[texts]The 2x2 quasi-optical power combiner array at 20 GHz - Kawasaki, Shigeo
Investigation of a power combiner made of two FET oscillators for an active array are reported. As an approach by a quasi-optical method, a two-dimensional planar array of strongly coupled oscillators by direct connection through a microstrip line is used. In-phase condition between the oscillators as well as in-phase condition of each radiation wave was accomplished by regulating length of feed microstrip lines...

[texts]Hollow cathode heater development for the Space Station plasma contactor - Soulas, George C
A hollow cathode-based plasma contactor has been selected for use on the Space Station. During the operation of the plasma contactor, the hollow cathode heater will endure approximately 12000 thermal cycles. Since a hollow cathode heater failure would result in a plasma contactor failure, a hollow cathode heater development program was established to produce a reliable heater design. The development program includes the heater design, process documents for both heater fabrication and assembly, a...
